App Store Grabber

About the App

The iOS App Store is home to almost two million apps. Getting your app found is hard. This is where app store optimization comes in to play.

Moving up the search results rankings means optimizing your images, tagline, app description, and even your icon. Improving and testing these changes can make a substantial difference to your ranking, and your conversion rate for app store search ads.

The goal of the app store grabber tool is to capture your iOS app store page and provide it as an editable download. You can then save it locally, make the adjustments you want to A/B test, and then serve it from a host of your choice.

Challenges

Being able to accurately recreate an iOS App Store page means pulling data from a few different sources.

Apple provides a REST API for much of the data, but it hasn’t been updated in some time. This means information like the app tagline, star ratings, and alternative platform screenshots are not accurately represented.

The animations and the feel of the app is also really important to me. It’s a small app, but the transitions between the different states make it feel like a cohesive experience.

Accessibility is also accounted for through the extensive use of keyboard shortcuts.
